An Interview with Mr. Bill Adams

Mr. Adams is the president of Adams Business Services, one of Southern California’s most regarded accounting and bookkeeping services firms. Recently, we asked Mr. Adams to describe the benefits he’s received from Segway CommunicationsSM and their free Call Management AdvisorSM (CMA).

Mr. Adams, tell us, how long have you been a Segway CommunicationsSM customer and what type of service did you have prior to Segway?

A: I’ve been with Segway Communications for, well, going on three years now. Prior to Segway, I was using a local vendor for my voice messaging. They provided us with basic call-to-pager service. However, their service was very limited. Knowing that we just missed a call, wasn’t enough.

  Because of
  Segway's
  reliability...our
  revenues have gone
  through the roof.

We knew we needed more, but we didn’t know what else was available, and apparently neither did they. I went looking for a company that knew more about their business than I, and that’s when I found Segway.

Mr. Adams, from your vantage point, what exactly is a Call Management Advisor?

A: Well, from my experience, our CMA, Shelly, has been a dedicated systems expert trained in Segway Communications’ products and services. She works hand-in-hand with our company to help us achieve optimum performance from our Segway services.

In your opinion, what have been the benefits of having a CMA?

A: One advantage to us of having a CMA is that she has stayed with us from the beginning. As our “go-to” person at Segway Communications, Shelly has learned all the nuances of my business, so when I need a question answered or some help with my service, I don’t have to ‘break-in’ a new person every call. It’s the opposite of calling the phone company and having to talk to a different person every time you call. She knows our company and our needs.

How else have Shelly and Segway helped your company?

A: Shelly’s basically our point person for all customer service needs, anything from billing to technical support. She listens when I bounce ideas off of her, and always has a solution.

Has having a CMA improved your business?

A: Sure, because of the way she helped us configure our Call Management system, our customer service and satisfaction has increased, while our business has exploded. Because of Segway’s reliability, our customers and prospects are getting through to us now more than ever. Our business has increased 48%. As my business keeps growing, Shelly shows me how to use other Segway features to keep us on top of the additional calls.

What about developing new business, can your CMA help you there?

A: Shelly recommended recording an outgoing greeting message that better explains our services to prospective customers. She even helped us script it, and put together a flow chart so that even I could understand what my callers’ choices are, and what happens when they push a button. Now we have automated information regarding our services, fees, fax number, e-mail address, directions to the office, and seasonal tax questions and deadlines. Segway Communications has helped us increase our customer base and turn prospects into customers.

  Our CMA is our point
  person for all
  customer service
  needs, anything from
  billing to
  technical support. She
  listens when I bounce
  ideas off of her, and
  always has a
  solution.

Were there any challenges along the way?

A: Not on Segway’s or Shelly’s side. Some of us were worried about making all the changes Shelly proposed…my VCR still flashes 12:00! So, she started us off slowly, letting us get used to it a little at a time. After we were comfortable, she brought us something new. Now we can’t imagine trying do run our business any other way.

Mr. Adams, as a small business owner, what advice do you have for others when it comes to Call Management technology?

A: Don’t settle for plain, vanilla voice mail. Getting all we have from Segway, with no equipment to buy, is a “No Brainer”. I wish every decision were as easy to make. Any other solution is like throwing your money down the drain.
